Unity Hifi

Unity Hifi were an 80's Sound System from North London they were formed in the mid to late 80's by Robert (Ribs) Fearon when he left Fatman Hifi.

The main deejays on the sound included Demon Rockers, Selah Collins, Yabby Youth, Chargan, Navigator and Flinty Badman. They also had Jamaican deejays such as Admiral Bailey, Chaka Demus, Peter Metro and Lieutenant Stitchie featuring the sound.

They started the Unity/Unity Sounds record label in the mid/late 80's. Ribs maintained a close association with Jammy's and Bunny Lee that he had developed whilst at Fatmans and the record label issued some classic Jammy's digital sides as a result. Alongside these were many UK recordings, these are now regarded as classics of the genre, in 2003 Honest Johns issued a compilation of the UK recorded sides called Watch How the People Dancing.

Ribs would never use more than one turntable when selecting for the sound.
