Soul Vendors

The Soul Vendors were also known as the and were an all-star Band recording at Studio One. The group consisted of Jackie Mittoo on keyboards, Joe Isaacs on drums, Brian Atkinson on bass, Hux Brown on guitar, Denzil »Pops« Laing on percussion and Campbell on Tenor Saxophone. Artists such as Roland Alphonso, Bobby Ellis, Headly Bennet, Vin Gordon, Dizzy Moore, Lenox Brown, Lester Sterling and David Madden also featured on several occasions.

 

They emerged from the ashes of the previous Studio One house band the Soul Brothers and by the late 60's had been replaced/merged into the Sound Dimension.

 

 

The Soul Vendors were said to record a minimum of twelve songs a day for five days a week in two and a half consecutive years (1966 to 1968) backing hits to artists such as Slim Smith, Alton Ellis, Toots & The Maytals, the Wailing Wailers and many more.
