Reggae Inna Dance Hall Style


Reggae Inna Dance Hall Style is a book that focuses primarily on Junjo Lawes and the Volcano posse. The authors, Tero Kaski and Pekka Vuorinnen, visited Jamaica in 1983 to gather material for the book and published it in 1984 on the Finnish Black Star publishing company. It is probably the earliest book focusing on a reggae Sound System (Black Star also published Beth Lessers book on King Jammy).

 

The book is 96 pages long of which 16 pages feature color pictures. Besides the color pictures it's full of black/white pictures of people affiliated with the label and posters designed by the legendary poster designer Sassa.

 

Artist interviewed are; Junjo, Buro, Josey Wales, Barrington Levy, Little John, Toyan, El Fego Bacca, Shadowman, Billy Boyo, Little Harry, Lady Ann, Peter Metro, Charlie Chaplin, Tony Tuff, Jah Thomas and Denzil »Sassa« Naar.

 

The book was printed in Helsinki, Finland 1984 by Kauppakirjapaino Oy.
