Reggae Bands are not unlike those found in the history of soul music; they are the often unsung creative force shaping the direction the genre. Many of the studios had set inhouse musicians over various time periods. Sometimes the bands consisted of a fluidly changing ensemble from a larger pool of musicians, and sometimes they were defined by key core members of the group. Despite often being linked as an inhouse band for a specific studio (or recording the bulk of their work for a specific imprint), the groups rarely confined their recordings to one specific studio or record label.
Be they studio or otherwise, the reggae band, or groups of backing musicians, have always made a dramatic impact on the music and yet most reggae fans don't even know who the band members are. This page will hopefully help with that.
