Echo Tone

Echo Tone (also often known as Echo Tone Hi Fi) was a Jamaican Sound System run by General Echo(1). The sound was initially known as Big John's Stereophonic Sound. Originally it played not only reggae but also a great amount of soul. In 1976 the sound shifted focus and started playing strictly rockers.(1) In 1977 the sound was voted #1 sound of Jamaica. Welton Irie deejayed on the sound between 1976 and 1981.
