The book was released as a companion to the Channel 4 TV series Deep Roots Music, that was narrated by Mikey Dread. The book is written by Howard Johnson & Jim Pines and was released by Proteus Books in 1982 and is 128 pages long. It features 150 photographies of which many are in colour. The ISBN is 0 86276 117 4.

 

Synopsis

The book covers reggae's history and origins all the way from the Jamaican slaves and the Maroon culture to the modern dancehall of the day. It has interviews with artists such as Count Machuki, Sir Lord Comic, Big Youth, Harry J, Dennis Brown and many more.
