Love (Twinkle Brothers)Love - Twinkle BrothersDescriptionBy 1977 the Twinkle Brothers had released two albums and Norman Grant was recording material for a new album. He had recorded five tracks when he heard that Virgin Frontline was searching for new reggae artists to release albums by.
»I came to London on a holiday and I had these tracks and somebody told me that Virgin was signing up. They were looking for artists. So I went there with four or five tracks. And I played them and they say ›do you have anything more?‹ And I had ›I Love you So‹ which I didn't play at first. And they said ›Yeah, We Love that one!‹« (from an interview with Norman Grant done by Joakim Kalcidis the 26th of July, 2006.)
These five tracks plus a deejay version by Sir Lee formed the first version of the album, pressed on somethings as peculiar as a 10" vinyl. Later the same year Norman Grant released a 12" version of the album on his own Twinkle label omitting the »South Africa« track and instead adding a couple of others. The following year (1979) Virgin Records released yet another version of the album adding dubs to some of the tracks on the original 10" release. In 1988 the album was released again on the Twinkle label with the only difference from the earlier Twinkle-release being minor changes to the graphics.
Love was the first of three albums that the Twinkle Brothers released for Virgin Records, the other two being Praise Jah and Countrymen in 1979 and respectively 1980.
Track listing and infoThere are primarily four different versions of this album. Two of them share the same track listing but the other versions have different track listings which means that there are three different versions of this album out there.
One of the extended album version also shares a few tracks (although different mixes) with the album »Praise Jah«
