Description

What was to become the book on King Jammy's originally started as an article Beth was asked to write for Ray Hurford and his magazine Small Axe. The article however grew and evolved to a book. Ray Hurford then told Beth to contact Tero Kaski in order to publish it. Tero had with his publishing company, Black Star, previously issued books such as the highly regarded book on Junjo and his Volcano sound - Reggae Inna Dance Hall Style. Tero liked the book and it was published in 1989.

The book focuses on King Jammy, his history and the people surrounding him. It was one of the few publications to give a in-look in the life of the pioneering producer and also the life people in the music lived.

It was originally published in 1982 as a 64 pg B/W stapled booklet by Black Star. In 2002 the book was reissued by ECW Press with an updated design done by the Intro studio. It also featured a new foreword by Beth Lesser, afterword by Steve Barrow and it also included selected interviews/articles from the magazine Reggae Quarterly.
