King Attorney Sound System changed it's name to Socialist Roots circa 1976 when Tony Welch bought the Sound. Tony Welch was a PNP (Peoples National Party) Don and from the time of the name change Socialist Roots was considered as a partisan sound in the chaotic and often violent world of Kingston's ghetto politics.
The selector was Danny Dread and the main deejays associated with the sound included U.Roy, Rankin Trevor, U.Brown, Jah Mikey & Nicodemus.
